What Does ‘Discovery’ Mean? Mr. May asked me to think about what discover means. To me discovery means finding and learning new things that I have not learned before. A lot of people do not know it, but they discover new things every day. I discover new things by just going to school and living life daily. In my picture, I am learning something new on my computer. Whether I mean to or not, I love to learn new things. Discovery is pretty much life. Do you like to discover?

Crusie Arcade Game -Research Paper: Tilt-a-World Identify the Problem How can we, as Caine has inspired, demonstrate through teamwork our imagination, determination, and passion for creativity and innovation, with our own arcade constructions? Explore What Makes an Effective Professional Arcade Game? The game I choose to figure out what a real arcade game is like is Highway Race. The company that supports Highway Race is Camadro, Inc. The object of the game is to beat all 10 levels and to not die by crashing. If you use the arrow keys correctly, you will not crash into any other moving cars. If you can, you want to collect as many dollar signs as you can because when you finish each level, you can use the money to update your car. The rules of the game are displayed at the bottom of the screen. I would give Highway Race a three out of four rating for difficulty, because you have to get through 10 levels without crashing. To win the game, you have to beat all 10 levels and when you win the game, you have the pleasure of winning, and you get to play again.
To build the game Highway Race you need card board, toy cars, black duct tape, metal bars, pedals, ropes and markers. To build the game, it would cost a maximum of $50 and a minimum of $10-$20. To buy this game, it would cost about $25.
The URL address of Highway RACE is: http://www.freearcade.com/HighwayRace.flash/HighwayRace.html. Design Brief What is the Concept Design of My Crusie Arcade Game? The name of our arcade game is Tilt-A-World. To play this game you tilt the maze to move the ball around. The farther you go the bigger the prize you get. The rules of the game will be displayed on the front of the game. It tells you that you have three lives, and you need to avoid posts and holes that could cause danger making you lose a life. The level of difficulty for our game is a 4 out of a 1-4 rating system. You win the game by getting your ball in different holes that have different points. The higher points you get the bigger prize you get. If you win the game, you get the biggest prize.
Our orthographic design has three views. We have a front view, a top view, and a side view. The front view shows the prize boxes, the score slot that shows if you have won or lost, the name of our game and, the instructions. The top view shows where the springs go, the holes for the marbles, and the maze. The side view shows our names – the creators of this game.
We will need a big cardboard box, a marble, duct tape, scissors, prizes, box cutter, string, plastic tubes, bucket, springs, markers, and extra cardboard for the slits and other stuff. We think it will take about 10 days to finish making it. What we think might not work is, the top of the box might not stand up. Also, the springs might not fit in the corner of the box. Praise: I loved this game! What a creative idea. I enjoyed playing it and it was not too easy, but not too hard. The decorations were eye – catching. You spent a lot of time and effort. Well done!
Question: Where did you get the idea? How can you be clearer about the prize levels?
Polish: I wonder if you should color coordinate the holes with the prize levels.
Student Comment: Thank you for coming to play Tilt-A-World! We did work hard and spent a lot of time on this game. We tried hard to make Tilt-A-World as creative as possible. We did not want to make this game too hard because we knew little kids would play. The decorations were actually supposed to be distracting. We got the idea for the game with a lot of thinking. I actually thought of it because my brother had recently made a marble maze in woodshop. Good idea of color coordinating the prizes! We actually took your idea into consideration, and it has been working really well.

Praise: Very creative! I like all of the colors and patterns. The game was fun and challenging.
Question: How did you come up with the design idea?
Polish: It would faster if you don’t give so many choices for prizes.
Student Comment: We tried to be as creative as possible on our game, Tilt-A-World. The patterns on our game were pretty hard to make. You asked how we came up with the design idea of our game. Well, immediately Shannon and I thought “let us cover it in colorful duct tape” because we knew you could get amazing colors and patterns of duct tape rolls. Good Idea of having less prize choices. It will make things a lot easier for us.

Praise: Your Tilt-a-World is beautifully designed, not to easy and not too hard and appealing to the eye. I like the element of the prize doors and everyone gets a “good try” prize.
Question: How did you decide what would be the “right’ height for all the gamers?
Polish: Could you describe the tilting strategy in your written directions rather than having to explaining verbally.
Student Comment: Thank you for playing our game, Tilt-A-World! The reason we put in a good try prize is because we wanted to be fair to everyone. You also mentioned that our game was appealing. We did a lot of work on the appeal because it was our favorite part. Great question about how we found the right height for the game; well, there was a height limit for your game, and it helped us. We actually hit the height limit, but, we mostly winged it. Well, we have thought about explaining the tilting strategy all written, but, we knew we would have little kids who cannot read that well so we thought it would be easier to tell people.

"Tilt-a-World" Make It Better How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Reflection on Project
What can we do to improve our Arcade Creation?
To make our game better, Shannon and I can finish duct taping, fix our broken spring, and make handing out the prizes easier somehow.
Specifically, how would we do this?
To finish duct taping we can just buy more duct tape. To fix our broken spring all we have to do is get another spring and tape it in. To make choosing the prizes easier, we can just make the kids not look when you choose the prize.
Reflection on Process
What did you learn to do with the Crusie Arcade Project?
I learned how to work well with a partner.
What do you know now that you didn’t know before doing the Project?
I learned how to build a marble maze out of cardboard.
What can you do know that you couldn’t before doing this project?
I can work well with a partner.
What did you like about the project that helped your learning?
I liked making the blue prints.
What could have been done differently to help your learning?
I could have stopped paying so much attention to the prizes.
